Spring is fast approaching. This sleepy winter is coming to an end and the earth is waking up. Days are lengthening, and the sun shines brighter. Winter boots, hats and gloves are being abandoned, pushed to the back of the closet ready for next year.
Life that has lain dormant is slowly revealing itself through the power of the warming sun, bringing with it refreshment and renewal. Spring is the season of new life.
Jesus was crucified in the spring. He died and then three days later was raised by his Father to a new life. His death and resurrection giving us the hope of new life.
Jesus said that if we resign from our old way of life and follow him, we can be born again into his family, and a whole new way of living.
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
Even more exciting, we can look forward to Jesus’ return to set up God’s kingdom. He will raise those who believe in him to a new, eternal life.
The world as we know it will change dramatically. There will be no war, no suffering, no sadness. This weary world will go through a process of rebirth.
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away.”
The new world that will exist when Jesus reigns over God’s kingdom promises freedom, peace and love.
It’s spring, time to start afresh, time to start an exciting new journey with Jesus.
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
